For several hours now, I’ve been trying to figure out why the belt on my lawn mower keeps coming off. I only manage to drive a few meters before it comes off the pulleys again.
Could the belt itself be the culprit?

I’d take a close look at the belt first.
If it’s stretched, worn, damaged, or simply the wrong size, it may not hold well on the pulleys and keep coming off. This is especially true if the old belt has been in use for a long time.

Most often, the problem is indeed the belt. When it wears out or stretches under load, it loses tension and begins to slip off the pulleys. The same V-belt often fits different mower models. If you’re unsure about compatibility, you can check the detailed specifications and replacement options at https://udcparts.com/products/gx26422-mower-deck-belt-replacement-for-john-deere . It’s made of durable cord that doesn’t stretch and has a friction-resistant coating.
