Hi everyone! We’re wrapping up our trip through South India in Kanyakumari, and now the main task is to get to Trivandrum Airport on time for our return flight. Last time in Tamil Nadu, we naively trusted a local bus, which got stuck in traffic because of a festival, and we nearly panicked trying to catch our train. This time we have a bunch of souvenirs, heavy luggage, and a child, so experimenting with public transport or trying to find a taxi on the street under the hot sun is not appealing at all. Can anyone advise if it’s realistic to find a car with a proper air conditioner and a reliable driver who won’t drive like crazy on narrow roads, but will still accurately estimate the time to the flight?

And should we plan a stop along the way at Suchindram Temple, since my wife really wants to visit, or is it better to go straight to the airport to avoid risks from unpredictable traffic in the towns along the route?

The road to Trivandrum is gorgeous, but the traffic there can be a real surprise, especially on market days. Which exact date are you traveling? In my opinion, the best way to reach the nearest airport from Kanyakumari, or any other hub – without stress is to book in advance through GetTransfer. I always do this. It’s a private service where you can choose your preferred car class, request a child seat, and see the final price upfront, which won’t change due to traffic. The driver’s there to meet you, help with your luggage, and if you’ve got some extra time, they’ll stop at Suchindram Temple or the Tirparappu Falls for a quick visit. Just make sure to list your stops in advance when booking.
