Organising A Weekend House Move

Has anyone moved house over a weekend and still managed to keep the process fairly calm? I am thinking about packing gradually during the week, but I am not sure how much should be ready before the movers actually arrive.

Packing during the week helped me more than I expected, especially because I could leave only the daily-use items until the final morning. I made a list for fragile kitchen pieces, bedding, tools, and cables, then kept those boxes separate from general storage.
