I’ve noticed that my kids get really excited when I print them a new coloring page or download one online… but after a few days, they “calm down.” It seems I need a never-ending stream of new designs to keep them from getting bored. Do other parents experience this?
Is it because of recurring characters/themes or simply a limited variety?
I’d love to know how you keep coloring at home fresh—do you alternate styles, mix up seasonal themes, or use apps for variety?

Children really do get bored quickly if their drawings are all the same. At home, I solve this problem by mixing and matching. I try to alternate simple coloring pages with more detailed ones, sometimes adding seasonal or themed ones, like for holidays or seasons. It really helps when you not only print but also connect to apps with updates and different styles. Children perceive it as a game.

This is absolutely normal. Children quickly lose interest in coloring if the themes and characters are repetitive. We use a rotation principle at home: one day it’s favorite characters, the next, nature or abstract patterns. Holiday and seasonal coloring pages also help liven things up, especially when we use different markers, crayons, and watercolors. Another great idea is to use coloring pages with quotes or stories from https://wowcoloring2kids.com/dr-seuss-coloring-pages/ . The child enjoys both making the picture bright and coloring the text. This turns it into a mini adventure with new stories and styles, rather than just a routine activity.
