Years ago I could see a list of people I follow on the left side of my screen on desktop, but now it only seems to work on the phone app?

It seems the issue isn’t with your account, but with the platform interface itself. Many websites in recent years have removed sidebars on desktop or moved them to drop-down menus for the sake of a minimalist design. On phones, the app displays a list because the navigation logic there is different.
