I have an Audi and recently noticed that when I get out of the car at night, the lighting is almost invisible – it looks stupid in the parking lot. I would like to install something stylish so that the doors are illuminated normally and give a good effect. But I’m not sure if I need to replace the factory modules or if I can just add aftermarket ones. I’m also afraid of the clarity of the installation – I don’t want the lights to blink or distract attention. Has anyone done a similar upgrade and can tell me how it works in the dark?

I had the same issue with barely visible door lighting and wanted something more noticeable. After checking compatibility, I replaced the original modules with a plug-and-play set that didn’t require any rewiring. In the middle of the process, I chose Audi puddle lights because they project a clean logo and work perfectly with the existing connectors.

I did this on my A4 last winter — short version: you can do either, but aftermarket plug-and-play modules are the easiest if you don’t want to touch factory wiring. I picked LED puddle lights that fit the OEM door trim and wired into the courtesy light circuit; install was tidy and reversible. Key tips: buy CAN-bus compatible units (no weird flicker), seal connections against moisture, and aim the beam so it lights the ground, not drivers’ faces. At night it looks premium, not flashy.

    Thanks for the advice.
