I had a massive panic attack last week after a sound at the grocery store triggered a memory I didn’t even know I had. It was terrifying and has me rethinking everything. A coworker quietly told me that EMDR helped her with her panic disorder. I’m desperate for a solution but also scared of making things worse. In your opinion, is EMDR a safe option for someone who is currently feeling very emotionally raw and vulnerable?

Last week I had a panic attack triggered by a random noise in a store — totally unexpected, left me shaking and confused. A friend quietly told me EMDR helped her panic disorder, so I wondered if it could help me too. I read this write‑up about EMDR and its safety: how safe is emdr therapy for anxiety and ptsd . From what I see, EMDR can be safe — but it really matters to go slowly, with a therapist you trust. It can stir up strong emotions or vivid memories at first, but good therapists use grounding, pacing and prepare you well so it doesn’t become retraumatizing. If you decide to try it, maybe treat the first session as a gentle check‑in: test the waters, see how you feel, and prioritize safety and emotional support.
