Friends of Phola in collaboration with The Institute of Narrative Therapy invites you to a Celebration of the Tree of Life: 20th year Anniversary – Past, present and future.

This year (2026), marks the 20th anniversary of the Tree of Life methodology created by Ncazelo Ncube Mlilo and David Denborough in 2006. Celebrations will be taking place in different parts of the world, including South Africa, India, Brazil and the UK.

We are excited to share that we will be hosting a celebration in London

At Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, London WC1R 4RL

Join us in celebrating the Tree of Life and learning how Ncazelo and others have developed this groundbreaking methodology and how the work has evolved and developed. We will hear from those who have experienced the methodology in many different contexts, and learn how it has shaped our understanding of emotional support for those who have experienced trauma and abuse.

Disabled Voices CIC – Help Us Build the UK’s First Disability-Led Emotional Support Service

Disabled Voices CIC is building a free, confidential emotional support service created by disabled people, for disabled people across the UK.

Too many disabled people experience loneliness, medical gaslighting, discrimination, inaccessible services and emotional distress without having a safe place where they feel truly heard. We want to change that.

We are currently fundraising to launch our pilot emotional support programme, which will provide accessible telephone and webchat emotional support delivered by trained disability-led volunteers. Every volunteer will receive specialist training in trauma-informed, disability-affirming emotional support, creating spaces where disabled people are listened to, believed and supported without judgement.

Our pilot will allow us to test and refine the service before expanding nationally, ensuring we build something that is genuinely accessible, sustainable and shaped by the community it exists to serve.

If successful, Disabled Voices CIC has the potential to become one of the UK’s first dedicated disability-led emotional support services, providing disabled people with somewhere they know they will always be heard.
