I have started thinking that keeping records may be more valuable than simply remembering which bets won and lost. A proper record could show whether certain leagues, markets or price ranges are actually producing good results over time. What information do you include in your betting records? Do you record the reason for every selection, the closing price and the final result? I am also curious about how many bets someone should track before drawing any conclusions about whether a particular approach is working.

A simple spreadsheet has been enough for me. Nothing fancy, just the date, league, selection, odds, stake, result and whether my original reasoning actually made sense afterward. I’d avoid judging a strategy from a couple of dozen bets because variance can make almost anything look good temporarily. Personally, I’d want several hundred bets before taking patterns seriously. I also keep records separately for each sport betting site, especially when testing something through a 1xbet download, so the numbers don’t get mixed together.
