Lately I’ve been wondering what memory exercises people actually stick with. I started doing a quick recall exercise every evening after I noticed I kept forgetting little details from my day. Now I try to remember five things that happened without checking my phone. It’s surprisingly fun. What memory exercises do you practice regularly?

I do something pretty similar, although I usually try to remember conversations rather than events. Sometimes before going to sleep, I replay the day and see how many details I can recall. I started doing it after forgetting a funny story a friend had told me. It felt strange remembering the general idea but losing the small details. Now I try to notice names, places, and little facts during conversations, then recall them later. I don’t do it every single day, but a few times a week seems to make a difference for me.

I’ve experimented with a few different exercises, and memory palaces have been the most interesting one for me. At first I thought they would be complicated, but using familiar places made the idea much easier. I sometimes connect information to rooms in my apartment and then mentally walk through them later. I also came across this article about how to build memory palace online while reading about different memory techniques at https://memoryos.com/article/all-truth-about-eidetic-memory . It gave me a few ideas to try. I’m still practicing, but I like exercises that turn remembering things into something visual and a bit more playful.

I’ve never followed a strict memory routine, but I sometimes challenge myself when I’m out shopping or walking around. I’ll look at a few things for a moment and later try to remember their order or details. It’s a small habit, but it makes ordinary situations a little more interesting. I also like doing simple word and number recall games when I have some spare time.
